What's the difference between a stormwater blockage and a sewer blockage?

Stormwater lines carry rain off roofs, driveways and yard drains. Sewer lines carry waste. A stormwater blockage shows up during rain, with water pooling at gullies and downpipes.

Why does my yard flood every time it rains hard?

Runoff from the roof and driveway funnels to the lowest point of the yard. If the line carrying it away is blocked by leaves, silt or roots, water pools instead of draining away.

Can I clear a blocked stormwater drain myself?

You can lift a grate and scoop out surface leaves. Anything further down the line needs an electric eel or jetter, and poking at it usually pushes the plug deeper.
