General Plumbing in Kotara
Bathroom Plumbing Kotara
Bathrooms do the hardest working plumbing in the house, and plenty around here have been on the job for fifty years or more. We handle the lot, from a dripping shower mixer through to the plumbing side of a full rebuild.
This page sits under the general plumbing hub alongside residential and kitchen plumbing, with the full service list on the Kotara home page. If water is damaging something right now, go straight to emergency plumbing.
What a bathroom job covers
A bathroom callout is rarely just one fitting. Most involve a fixture, its connections and the waste line behind it, and all three need to come up to standard together.
Showers and tapwear
Toilet suites
Vanity and basin work
Renovation plumbing
Leak diagnosis
Waste connections
Bathrooms in a post-war suburb
This suburb went up as a garden suburb through the fifties, sixties and seventies, and that building era shows up in every bathroom we open. Four things come up again and again on the local stock.
Compact by design.
Brick veneer and weatherboard.
Rear additions complicate things.
Flexi hoses from past renos.
What goes wrong in older bathrooms
None of this is exotic. The failures follow the age of the fittings, and most have a straightforward fix once the cause is confirmed.
Worn mixers and cartridges.
Cisterns running constantly.
Slow bath and shower wastes.
Leaks hiding in cavities.
Rough-in to fit-off
A bathroom reno lives or dies on sequencing, so the plumbing is scheduled in two clean visits and coordinated with everyone else on the job. Here is how it runs.
- 1
Call and tell us
Ring (02) 4063 3461 and tell us what's going on in Kotara. We'll ask a few quick questions so the right gear is on the truck the first time.
- 2
Quote before work
You get the price before anything starts. No call-out fee, no hourly surprises; you approve the quote or we shake hands and leave, no charge.
- 3
The bathroom work itself
Rough-in and fit-off are set around your tiler and builder, fixtures connect to current standard, and anything worn we find gets flagged before it is touched.
- 4
Backed, no questions asked
If something isn't up to standard afterwards, we come back and make it right, no questions asked. That's the standard every Kotara job is held to.
Do not wait on this
When a bathroom fault can't wait
Some faults take a booking. Others are actively wrecking the house, and telling the difference saves floors and ceilings.
- A burst flexi hose under a vanity: isolate it at the tap, then call the emergency line
- Water spreading through a ceiling below: get it looked at the same day
- A shower recess dumping water into a wall cavity: not safe to run until it is repaired
- A toilet that won't stop overflowing: see toilet overflowing for the immediate steps
If the rebuild follows an emergency, the repair-side plumbing gets handled as part of the same run. Where the cause turns out to be a cracked line outside, the blocked drains page picks up that thread.

Bathroom plumbing questions
Can you plumb a bathroom reno in stages?
Yes. Rough-in goes in once the old fittings come out, and fit-off follows after tiling and sheeting. The two visit dates are set with whoever is running the build.
My shower pressure dropped suddenly. What causes it?
On the post-war homes it is usually a failing mixer cartridge or scale build-up in the shower head. Both are straightforward fixes, and the valve gets checked over while we are there.
Do you install freestanding baths?
Yes. A freestanding bath needs a floor-standing waste rather than the wall outlets older bathrooms were built around, so the new waste goes in before the floor finish goes down.
Is a burst flexi hose really an emergency?
It is. Braided hoses let go without warning and dump water straight into a cupboard or floor. Isolate the tap under the basin if you can, then call straight away.
Can you match new fixtures to an older bathroom?
Generally yes. We fit the fixtures you have chosen, and where existing pipework or stop taps on the older homes are past it, that gets flagged in plain terms first.
Do you work in with my builder or renovator?
We do this regularly across the suburb's rear additions and bathroom rebuilds. The visit dates are coordinated with whoever manages the job, so the program never stalls on the plumbing.
